Men's Lacrosse Opens Season at Salem State

On Saturday the Wells Express men's lacrosse team traveled to Salem State to open their 2022 season.

In their previous season, the Express was only able to complete two games before being canceled due to the pandemic. they were excited to kick things off this season for sure!

In the first quarter, Salem State came out aggressive and the Express did their best to hold them off. Salem put 15 shots on goal in the first and scored on 5 of them. There were 2 saves made for the Express. the Express had 11 shots but were not able to score and found themselves down 5-0 at the end of the first. 

In the second, right around the 10-minute mark, the Express were able to breakthrough with an unassisted goal for Quinten battle, his first of the season. Only 4 minutes later, when they were a man up, the Express capitalized and scored once again from the sophomore Dan Stevens, his first of the year. Assist Shane Syms. The Express went into half down by a score of 12-2.

The second half saw the host, Salem continues to build on their lead. They go off a total of 64 shots to the Express 35. Later in the half, Quinten Battle (2), Dan Stevens (2), and Dakota Swamp, all found the back of the net. Although both teams had 12 saves on the day, the Express fell in their season opener by a score of 21-5.
