Express Named To All Sportsmanship teams!

Four athletes from Wells Express spring sports have been named to the United East conference all-sportsmanship team for their sport!

The United East All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. Student-athletes selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory, and respectfulness in defeat. Each individual has been chosen by their coach as a representative who embodies the Division III spirit.

Joe Horne was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for baseball in the United East. This was Joe Horne's junior year at Wells College and he comes to us from Hicksville, NY. Horne is a utility infielder who appeared in 36 games for the Express this season. Congratulations Joe!

Ellie Beavers was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for women's lacrosse in the United East. This was Ellie's senior year on the women's lacrosse team after playing two seasons for the Express and she comes to Wells College from Syracuse, NY. Beaver's appeared in 17 games in her two years for the Express starting in 11 of those. Congratulations Ellie!

Jen McCumber was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for softball in the United East. McCumber is a 3 sports athlete who also played on the women's soccer and women's basketball teams during her time at Wells. This was her senior season here at Wells College coming to us from Albany, NY. She was second for the Express this year in batting average hitting .254 with 6 doubles. Congratulations Jen!

Dakota Swamp was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for men's lacrosse in the United East. In his first year for the Express, Swamp netted 14 goals and assisted 8 others. He also started all 12 games. Swamp comes to Wells College from Green bay, WI. Congratulations Dakota!

These student-athletes are ambassadors for their teams, both on and off the court, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. They exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.
