WILDCATS SWEEP EXPRESS

Utica, NY- The Wells College softball team were shutout in both games of their NEAC double-header against SUNYIT, 8-0 (5 inn.) and 16-0 (5 inn), on Sunday in Utica. The two losses drop Wells to 0-12 (0-6 NEAC) while SUNYIT improved to 4-10 (2-2 NEAC).

The Wildcats would plate six runs in the third inning en route to an 8-0 victory in five innings. Rebekah Coons, Juli Vibbard, Amelia Welch and Jess Fossett would all collect hits for the Express while Aly Mann took the loss on the mound tossing four innings, allowing six earned runs while walking one and striking out one.

In game two, the Wildcats continued to swing the bat well, scoring in all four innings, including four runs in the first inning and four runs in the fourth inning. Beth Cereo would collect the only hit for Wells.

SUNYIT pitcher Juleah Vedder (Dolgeville, NY) recorded the win on the mound in both games, allowing just five hits on the day while recording 15 total strikeouts. 

The Express return to action at home against Hilbert College on Thursday, April 9th at 3:30 pm in Aurora.
