CAZENOVIA SWEEPS WELLS

Cazenovia, New York – The Wells College softball team lost 3-2 and 13-6 to Cazenovia College in North Eastern Athletic Conference double-header action Sunday afternoon in Cazenovia. With the loss the Express fall to 0-10 (0-4 NEAC) while Cazenovia improves to 2-6 (2-0 NEAC) on the season.

In game one, the Wildcats broke open a scoreless tie in the third when Jessica Kreasken drove home Christine Nichols on a single up the middle giving Cazenovia the 1-0 lead. The Express would load the bases the very next inning and Adriana Perry (Holbrook, MA) singled home Jess Fossett (Camden, ME) and Amelia Welch (Warrensburg, NY) to give the Express a 2-1 lead.

Cazenovia would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth as Kayla Delles and Jo Gilford would score to give the Wildcats a 3-2 lead. Although the Express would load the bases in the sixth inning, they were unable to plate any runs as the Wildcats would go on to the victory.  Aly Mann (Walden, NY) suffered the loss on the mound going six innings, allowing three runs while striking out one.

In game two, Cazenovia exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the first as they would hold on to defeat the Express 13-6. Beth Cereo (Port Biron, NY) finished the game 2-3 with a homerun, walk, and two rbi's. While Juli Vibbard (Burlington Falls, NY) reached base in four plate appearance including a double. Welch, Mann, and Rebekah Coons (Voorheesville, NY) all had two hits apiece for the Express.

Wells will next play Elmira College on Wednesday, April 1st at 3:00 pm in Elmira.
