WELLS DROPS TWO TO D'YOUVILLE

Aurora, NY-The Wells College softball team dropped both games of their North Eastern Athletic Conference double-header to D'Youville College 8-1 and 8-0 (5 inn.)  Saturday afternoon in Aurora.  The Express were held to five hits in the first game and two hits in the second game.

Aly Mann took the loss in game one tossing seven innings, allowing eight runs (7 earned) on nine hits while striking out four. Beth Cereo took the loss in game two tossing five innings, allowing eight runs (5 earned) on eight hits while striking out four.

Clinging to a 2-0 lead, the Spartans would plate three two-out runs in the top of the sixth and two more in the top of the seventh to seal the 8-1 victory in game one. In game two, D'Youville would not waste any time as three Wells errors would lead to a six-run third inning and a 7-0 lead. The Express would struggle to get base runners as D'Youville Pitcher Hannah Norton would allow just four base runners while striking out seven Express hitters.

With the loss the Express fall to 0-8 (0-2 NEAC) while D'Youville improves to 2-8 (2-0 NEAC). Wells will look to turn things around as they will take on NEAC opponent Cazenovia College on Sunday, March 29, at 1:00 pm in Cazenovia.
