Women's Basketball Scores Most Points Of The Season Against Alfred St.

On Saturday afternoon the Wells College women's basketball team hosted a future conference opponent, the Alfred State Pioneers. Alfred State would snag the win, 75-41.

Wells College shot only 25% from the floor in the first quarter but posted 12 points. They followed that up with 9 points in the second quarter. As a team, the Express shot 45% from three-point land in the first half which is their best percentage of the year for a half. Sydney Bateman contributed 10 points by halftime but the Express trailed the Pioneers 50-21.

The Express ramped up the defense in the second half. After allowing 50 first-half points, they only allowed Alfred State to score 25 points combined in the third and fourth quarters. Roosa Armstead-Lehti and Sydney Bateman both posted a career-high in scoring.  Roosa Armstead-Lehti had 6 points and 2 rebounds. Sydney Bateman had 17 points, and 6 rebounds, and went 3-4 from 3. The Express would post their season's highest point total but fall at home to the Pioneers 75-41.

That wraps up women's basketball for the first semester. Their next game is Friday January 6th when they host Gallaudet.
