Senior Day Victory For Wells Men's Lacrosse

The Wells College men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day and went on to a 13-11 victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, April 14 at the Wells Turf Field.

The five-member senior class is comprised of the team's starting goalkeeper and its four leading point-scorers. Brian Buttner, Aaron Heisey, Brady Hoose, Tanner Mingen, and Zack Simone were honored prior to the start of the game.

Wells improved to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Cobleskill is 3-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Wells scored five times in the first quarter. Aaron Heisey had three of the first four goals for the Express.

A big second quarter helped Wells to the victory. The Express outscored Cobleskill 4-1 in the second quarter and led 9-4 at halftime. Three of the four goals in the quarter were man-up goals, scored by Brian Buttner, Tanner Mingen, and Brady Hoose. Hoose scored with nine seconds left in the quarter to send the Express to halftime with a five-goal advantage.

Carson Combs, Buttner, and Mingen scored in the third quarter for the Express. Dalibor Hanes had the final Wells goal.

Heisey and Buttner each had three goals and one assist. Hoose had two goals and three assists. Combs and Mingen scored twice each. Zack Simone made eight saves. Mingen had eight ground balls and Heisey had seven.

Wells continues conference play Wednesday, April 18 at SUNY Poly at 7 p.m.
