Men’s Lacrosse Downed By Medaille, 18-4

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Despite two goals apiece from senior Daniel Munsell (Doylestown, Pa.) and freshman Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.), the Wells College men's lacrosse team posted an 18-4 loss to the Mavericks of Medaille College Tuesday afternoon. The Express remain winless on the season (0-5) while dropping their second North Eastern Athletic Conference tilt of the year (0-2). Medaille improves to 4-3 overall and to 2-0 against league opponents.

Trailing 11-0 through the first 29:13, Jansen struck first for the Express, potting an unassisted goal with minimal time remaining in the first half to place Wells on the board. Jansen added another goal to open up second half play, striking only 1:03 into the third stanza. Medaille went on another goal scoring streak, extending the lead to 17-2 before Munsell forced home his first of the contest at 7:40 of the fourth quarter. A goal with two seconds remaining in regulation went in favor of the Express, coming off the stick of Munsell for his 12th goal of the season.

Jansen led the team with seven ground balls to his credit while Munsell ranked second with six to his credit. Senior Matt Duffy (Huntington, N.Y.) ranked third on the team with four ground balls. Caused turnover statistics for the game were not tracked by the host Mavericks.

For Medaille, Drew Belica and Brock Levick each scored seven points to lead their team. Levick's five goals led his team while Julian LaDelia chipped in seven ground balls to his credit.

Sean Kettles earned the victory for Medaille, turning aside 6-of-10 shots on goal. Express goalkeeper Tyler Bischoff (Allendale, N.J.) was saddled with his fifth loss of the season, allowing 18 goals on 27 shots.

Wells returns to action this Saturday, Apr. 8 as they host the Mustangs of Morrisville State College in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
