Men’s Lacrosse Shut Down By SUNY Canton, 17-3

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Freshman Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) converted two goals for the Express, but the Wells College men's lacrosse team fell to the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton by a 17-3 final Saturday afternoon at the Stadium Complex on the campus of SUNY Cortland. With the loss, the Express remain winless on the season (0-4) while the Kangaroos earn their second overall victory (2-3) following the non-conference contest.

The Express trailed by a 4-0 margin before Jansen scored his third goal of the season with 11:39 remaining in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 4-1. The Kangaroos outscored the Express by a 12-to-1 margin until senior captain Daniel Munsell (Doylestown, Pa.) added his fifth goal of the season with 1:50 remaining in the game. Jansen scored the lone Express goal in the third stanza.

Jansen scored two goals for the second-straight game, tying for the team lead with six ground balls alongside Munsell. Junior Alex Manley (Derby, Pa.) led the team with 10 ground balls to his credit, a career-high mark. Tanner Pratt scored a goal and added four assists for the Kangaroos, leading the team with five points (1-4=5). Chris Gamble scored four goals for SUNY Canton while, cumulatively, 10 different players recorded at least one goal.

Goalkeeper Tyler Bischoff (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) made 10 saves in the loss, his fourth of the season. Starting Kangaroos goalkeeper Corey Spuck was certainly not untested – Spuck made 10 saves before yielding to Jeff Hammond near the midpoint of the third quarter.
