Men's Basketball Drops Home Opener to Elmira

Wells College men's basketball played their first home game of the season Tuesday night when they hosted the Elmira College Soaring Eagles.

In the first half of this game, the Express came out with low energy and let Elmira build a lead before halftime. The Soaring Eagles were up 61-47 at the half. Most of the first half scoring came from freshman guard Chase Welch who had 23 points in the first half keeping the Express in this one. Wells staged a major comeback in the second half after being down by as many as 19 points. The comeback was led by senior guard Terrance Clayton-Murphy who had 23 points in the second half. Billy McCrae also through in 10 second-half points to help the Express take a four-point lead with eight minutes remaining. The two teams would go back and forth exchanging the lead in the final eight minutes. A costly late turnover by Wells and made free throws from Elmira led to the Express suffering their second loss of the season, 101-96.

Tomorrow night the Express will host the RIT Tigers at 7:00 PM
