Men's Basketball Improve to 2-1 In Conference Play

Wells College men's basketball hosted the St Mary's Seahawks this Saturday for a second consecutive conference game at home. The Express secured a close victory, 81-79.

The Express jumped out to an 8-3 lead over the visiting Seahawks. Billy McCrae was able to take advantage of one on one defense in the first half tallying 15 points and 4 rebounds on 6-8 shooting. Terrance Clayton-Murphy also threw in 11 points while going 3-3 from deep. The defense for the Express produced 9 turnovers in the first half alone helping them take a 51-35 lead into half-time. Despite the big lead at halftime, the Seahawks were able to battle back and cut the lead to just 2 points (68-66) with 5 minutes remaining. Shortly after, Ivan Oduro-Dompreh converted an and-1 layup to give the Express a 73-66 lead. With less than a minute left Jalen Feliz knocked down 2 free throws to give Wells a 79-74 lead. Ty Mcbride would later add two more free throws to give the Express a second consecutive win 81-79.

The Express had 4 players in double figures, Billy McCrae, Ivan Oduro-Dompreh, Terrace Clayton-Murphy, and Jalen Feliz

Men's basketball will be back in action Wednesday when they host SUNY Morrisville.
