WOMEN'S TENNIS TAKES SEASON OPENER

Aurora, N.Y.–  The Wells College women's tennis team opened up their season on a winning note, defeating North Eastern Athletic Conference rival Wilson College 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. Paula Goodnough (Mannsville, N.Y./South Jefferson) and Ana Lucia Riley (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) won both of their singles matches and then teamed up as double partners to win 8-0 to lead the Express to victory.

The Wilson duo of Mia and Tess Doyle won both of their singles matches and teamed-up for the only doubles win to lead Wilson.

Aya Shiraishi (Osaka, Japan) took her singles match in two straight matches 6-3, 6-6 (10-8), while Caitlyn Copfer (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) won the other singles match for the Express 6-2, 6-2. In doubles action twins Mindy and Lorina Lamier (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) won a close match, 8-6, to close out the victory for Wells.

The Express return to action tomorrow against NEAC foe Penn. St. Harrisburg at 12:00 p.m. in Aurora, N.Y.
