Laing Named Head Men’s Volleyball Coach

Ryan Laing has been named Head Men's Volleyball Coach, announced Director of Athletics and Physical Education Mike Lindberg. Laing begins his new role on Aug. 30.

"We are so pleased to have Ryan as a member of our staff," Lindberg said. "As a former student athlete and assistant coach, Ryan brings an excellent base of experience as a coach, educator and recruiter."

In addition, Laing will also be an assistant coach for the Wells College women's volleyball team.

The West Seneca, N.Y. native has served as an assistant volleyball coach at Medaille College for the past three seasons with both the men's and women's Mavericks teams.

Laing earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management from Medaille while playing for the Mavericks' men's volleyball team as an outside hitter and being actively involved in Medaille's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Prior to being named an assistant coach at Medaille and as part of his graduate studies at Canisius College, Laing logged an additional year with the Mavericks' women's volleyball team. In that role, he aided the coaching staff in game film assessment that guided game strategy and player development advancement, in addition to recruiting responsibilities. Laing completed a Master of Science from Canisius in sports administration.

Combining his time at Medaille as a player and a coach, Laing has been a part of nearly 100 Maverick wins over the past few years.
