ROSER SCORES 26 IN LOSS TO HARRISBURG

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Penn. St. Harrisburg Nittany Lions held off a stubborn Wells College Express en route to a 73-65 victory in North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball action Sunday afternoon in Aurora. The loss drops the Express to 1-7 (1-5 NEAC), while the Nittany Lions improve to 2-4 (2-1 NEAC).
 
Ashley Roser had a dominating performance, finishing with a game high 26 points, a career high 19 rebounds, and four blocks to lead the Express. Gabrielle Palozzola added 11 points and three assists, while Ashley Mercure chipped in with nine points to round-out the scoring for Wells.
 
Stephanie Yetter finished with 21 points and seven rebounds and Miranda Zeanchock chipped in with 12 points to pace the Nittany Lions.
 
Wells shot 53.8 percent from the field, while holding Harrisburg to just 37.3 percent shooting. The Express held the advantage in rebounds 42-37 and made their 14 offensive rebounds count, scoring 18 second chance points.
 
It was a back forth first half that would see the lead change six times. The Express would find themselves down seven (15-8) at the half way point of the first half but two free throws and a jumper by Roser sparked an 11-0 run by the Express to take a 19-15 lead. The Nittany Lions would answer late in the first half, snapping a 29-29 tie with six straight points to close the half with a 35-29 lead.
 
The Nittany Lions controlled the majority of the first ten minutes of the second half, opening up a 13 point lead (52-39). The Express continued to battle back and would trim the lead to three (66-63) with 2:36 to play. The Express would have two chances down the court to tie the game but a turnover and a missed jumper would seal their fate as the Nittany Lions finished with a 7-2 run, including five of six from the free-throw line. 
 
The Express return to action next on Dec. 7 against NEAC opponent Keuka College. The game is set to tip at 6.p.m.
