Baseball Grabs First Win Of The Season At Home

Wells College baseball opened their season at home Monday night with a big win over a non-conference foe, the Defenders of Clarks Summit, 10-4.

The Senior Austin Jordan got the start for the Express tonight. Jordan went 5 innings giving up only 3 runs and striking out 4. He was relieved by first-year pitcher Mason Smith who threw two scoreless innings striking out 1. Mike Nascimento closed out the game for Wells College in the 9th to help the Express secure their first win of the season.

On offense, the Express got on the board quickly when a Zach Young single scored 2 and a Zac Legaretta home run put the Express lead up to 4 in just the first inning. In the fourth inning, John Valinoti and Max Odum both batted in runs to extend the Express lead to 6-2. For some extra insurance, in the 7th inning, Zack Odum, Aaron Izquierdo, and Zac Legaretta combined for 4 RBI's and extended the lead to 10-3 in favor of Wells.

Wells baseball will take the field again on Saturday at Merchant Marine in King Ferry, NY.
