Express Baseball Falls On The Road To The Mavericks

Wells College baseball hit the road for a non-conference game this evening against Medaille College in Buffalo, NY.

In the first inning, after three straight walks, Lance Phillips ripped a triple to center field clearing the bases and giving the Express a 3-0 lead. In the second inning, after Justin Colindres walked and Zack Odum singled, Zac Legaretta singled scoring both runners and building the Express lead-up to 5-1. Medaille would come roaring back taking a 9-5 lead into the 8th inning. Zander Johnson came in for 4.1 innings of relief giving up just 1 hit and striking out 5 batters. In the 8th inning, Zach Young doubled and then was sent home by a Jacobi James single. Jonathan Haines then smacked a double to left center that scored Zach Young sending the Express to the 9th inning down 9-7. In the 9th, Max Odum got things started by walking and then stealing second. Zac Legaretta tripled and sent home Max Odum placing the tying run on third with one out. Bradly Mills then flew out to left field and Legaretta was thrown out at home trying to tag up, handing the Express a 9-8 loss on the road. 

Baseball returns home to host the Gallaudet Bison for a three-game series starting Saturday evening.
