Baseball Drops Two Games To USMMA

Wells College baseball hit the road for Kings Point, NY to take on United States Merchant Marine Academy in a double header Saturday afternoon.

First year transfer, Jonathan Haines was on the mound for the Express and put in quite the performance. Haines went six full innings only giving up five hits, zero runs, and striking out six. At the plate, Wells was held to only four hits in the fist game of the double header and found the score tied 0-0 heading into the seventh and final inning. In the bottom of the seventh, with two outs, Wells walked back-to-back batters and an outfield error allowed the winning run in, 1-0.

To start the second game, the Express had bases loaded with nobody out in the top of the first. They unfortunately were not able to push a run across. First year athlete Zander Johnson was on the mound for the Express to start the second game. Johnson ended up going 3.2 innings giving up six runs on seven hits with three walks. Johnson also struck out two. Ryan Wiser came in as relief for 2.1 innings giving up only one run on four hits. On offense, Wells College was once again held by USMMA pitching to only four hits. The Express dropped the second game, 0-7.

Baseball will be back in action tomorrow at NYU for a double header starting at 12 PM.
