Baseball Drops Conference Opener To St Mary's

Wells College baseball made a quick stop on their way back from Myrtle Beach at St Mary's College of Maryland.

This marked the start of conference play for Wells College after closing out non-conference action on Wednesday.

In the first inning, the Express grabbed a one-run lead when Jonathan Haines hit a SAC fly to left field that scored Max Odum. The Seahawks answered right back in the bottom of the first with 3 runs of their own off a walk and a hit. Wells College would tie the game up at 3 in the 4th inning when Stephen Livingston reaches first on a throwing error that sent home Bradley Mills and Zac Legaretta. The floodgates opened a bit for St Mary's when they pushed across 8 runs in the 4th and 5th inning combined to take an 11-3 lead. Ryan Wiser came out of the bullpen for Wells College throwing 1.1 innings and giving up only 1 hit. Wells would total almost 10 hits on the day but none of them were in succession and were not able to push any runs across the board. They fell in this series opener, 12-3.
