Baseball Walks It Off On Senior Night

Wells College baseball hosted Elmira College for their final home game of the season and Senior Night this Wednesday.

the Pitching performances gave the Express a real chance to win this evening. The Senior Austin Jordan was on the mound to start and threw 6.1 innings allowing just 1 earned run on 6 hits. He was relieved by fellow seniors Jack Field and Connor Carr-Matthews who went a combined 1.2 innings allowing only 1 hit and no runs. Offensively, Wells scored two runs in the bottom of the first when Max Odum scored on a wild pitch and then Zach Young walked with the bases loaded. Wells would not score again until the ninth inning when a double off the bat of Lance Phillips sent Jacobi James to third with 2 on and no outs. James and Phillips would both score on ground outs forcing extra innings. After Mike Nascimento held Elmira scoreless in the top of the tenth, max Odum reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a passed ball. Zack Odum then smashed a double to left center scoring his brother and walking it off for the Wells Express.

Chase Sebastian, Jack Field, Joe Horne, Connor Carr- Matthews, Nick Scanlon, and Austin Jordan will all graduate this season from Wells College. thank you all for your dedication to the Wells College baseball program!
