Baseball Battles Harrisburg, and The Weather

Wells College baseball hosted the top-seeded in the conference Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lions for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.

Jonathan Haines started game one for Wells College and went five innings allowing six runs on seven hits. The Express offense smacked six hits in the game but only one of them was able to produce any runs for Wells. At the bottom of the fifth, Max Odum smashed his second home run of the season, a two-run shot that scored Nick Manee and cut the lead from 3 to 1. Harrisburg scored in the sixth and seventh inning to build a larger lead and the Express could not battle back. They fell in game one to Harrisburg, 7-2.

Ethan Zimmerman started game two for Wells College. He allowed four runs on six hits in four innings of work. Bradley Perry relieved him. In the bottom of the second, first-year outfielder Chris McLean hit his first collegiate home run to right field to cut the Harrisburg lead down to 2-1. In the third, a Jacobi James Single scored Max Odum and tied the game up at two. Harrisburg put up five more runs in the fourth and fifth taking a 7-2 lead. At the beginning of the sixth, the game was passed due to lightning and never resumed. Wells College fell in game two, 7-2.

Baseball will play game three against Harrisburg tomorrow starting at 1 PM.
