Zack Odum Walk Off Secures Another Win For Express Baseball

Wells College baseball was back in action this evening in Myrtle Beach against the Cairn Highlanders.

The Highlanders struck first in the top of the first inning off a sacrifice fly sending home the first run of the game. Express starter Jonathan Haines would settle in the next few innings giving up only two hits and that one run in 5.1 innings of work. In the 5th inning, Zack Odum singled through the left side and an error by the left fielder scored three runs for the Express giving Wells their first lead of the game. Then, in the top of the ninth, Cairn would smack a 2-run homerun to tie the game up at 3. Mike Nascimento was brought in out of the bullpen to get the final two outs of the 9th inning and bring the Express back up to bat. With runners on second and third in the bottom of the ninth, 1 out, Cairn intentionally walked Max Odum to get to Zack Odum. Zack sent a fly ball out to right field and Justin Colindres tagged up at 3rd beating the throw home to secure a walk-off win for Wells College. Each Odum brother now has a walk-off hit this season!

The Express is now 5-5 on the year and will play tomorrow morning at 9 AM against Keene St.
