Baseball Walks It Off Against SUNY Poly

Wells College baseball hosted the SUNY Poly Wildcats Sunday for a non-conference match-up.

Austin Jordan was on the mound for the Express once again and had a terrific outing. Jordan threw 7 innings giving up 9 hits and only 1 run. He also struck out 4. When he left the game, the Express were tied 1-1 with the Wildcats thanks to a Lance Phillips double that scored Zac Legaretta. In the bottom of the seventh, Max Odum stole second and on an errant throw would make it all the way home to give the Express a 1-run lead. In the top of the 8th, The wildcats would push across 3 runs to take a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the 8th. There, John Valinoti would double and send home Zac Legaretta on a throwing error by the left fielder. Mark Maybee would come into a run for Valinoti and score on a wild pitch to tie the game up at 4.

The game would stay this way until the bottom of the 10th. Joe Horne reached base after being hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a Lance Phillips single. Chris McLean would then single to right field, but Horne would be thrown out at home. that brought up Max Odum who would reach on a fielder's choice that would send Lance Phillips all the way home for the Express to walk it off.

Baseball will host the Wildcats again tomorrow at 4 PM
