Baseball Falls to Liberty League Foe

Wells College baseball hosted the Hobart Statesman for a non-conference matchup on Monday night.

After the Statesman jumped out to a 5-run lead in the top of the first, the Express answered back in the bottom of the frame. A single from Zach Young scored Max and Zack Odum. then Bradley Mills and John Valinoti reached on a fielder's choice and an error but both plays scored runners cutting the lead to one run heading into the second. It would take until the seventh inning for the Express to score again and it was started by Max and Zach Odum with a single and a double. When Zach Young reached on an error Max Odum scored. Jonathan Haines also reached on an error that scored another run in the seventh. The bullpen was once again a highlight for the Express this evening. Bradley Perry, Zack Cronk, and Johnny Pascarella Jr. combined for seven innings allowing only two runs on six hits and striking out eight. Ultimately the Express fell at home to the Statesman, 11-6.

Baseball will head to Elmira on Wednesday for another non-conference game.
