Baseball Completes the Sweep Over The Bison

Wells College baseball hosted the Gallaudet Bison for a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon starting at 12 PM.

In game one the Express built a 7-run lead started by Max and Zack Odum. Legaretta, Izquierdo, James, Haines, and ZOdum recorded RBIs in the first inning. In the bottom of the second, Lance Phillips hit a SAC fly to center that scored Aaron Izquierdo to increase the Express lead. The fifth inning brought some more runs for Wells College starting with a Joh Valnoti single to center. Zac Legarreta smacked a single to center that scored Valinoti. That was followed by singles from Izquierdo and Phillips that both scored runs. Zimmerman, Sebastian, and Cronk were on the mound for the Express and held the Bison to seven runs. That was enough for Wells to grab a second win in a row, 13-7. 

Austin Jordan got the start in game two for Wells College. The Express grabbed another early lead thanks to RBIs from Zac Legarreta and Lance Phillips. The bats were alive in this game for Wells College. First-year first baseman Zach Young hit his first collegiate home run in the seventh that brought home Lance Phillips, then Jacobi James hit his first collegiate home run that was a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth. that gave James 5 RBIs in the game. The Express once again held the Bison to seven runs and completed the sweep at home, 14-7.

Tomorrow at 6 PM Wells baseball will host the Hobart Statesman!
