Baseball drops Double Header To Penn College

Wells College baseball was back in action this afternoon in a doubleheader at Penn College.

In game one Wells fell into a 7-0 deficit in the first two innings. they did not add a run to the board until the fifth inning when a Zac Legaretta single up the middle scored Zach Young. That was followed by a Stephen Livingston single that scored Lance Phillips. Zack Cronk came in for three innings of relief work and only allowed three hits and no runs. In the sixth inning, the Express threatened once again when Zack Odum and Aaron Izquierdo both singled. Lance Phillips followed with a walk, but Wells left those runners on base and ended up dropping game one, 7-2.

In game two the Express scored right away when Max and Zack Odum both reached on an error and Aaron Izquierdo drove in Max Odum with a single. A SAC fly from Zach Young then scored Zach Odum and the Express took a 2-0 lead early. Wells would not score again until the sixth inning when John Valinoti was walked with the bases loaded. In the seventh, Zach Young smacked a double that scored Aaron for the fourth run of the game. The Penn College offense however kept rolling and scored six runs on ten hits in the first, third, and fifth inning. Ryan Wiser, Bradley Perry, and Connor Carr Matthews all came in relief and threw a combined 2.1 scoreless innings. Wells fell in game two, 6-4.

Baseball will hit the road this Tuesday to take on Medaille College.
