On Tuesday afternoon the Wells College softball team was back in action. For two games, they hosted the Lions of Penn State Harrisburg.
This would be another United East Conference match-up for the Express after they dropped two home games to the Penn College Wildcats last week. They hoped to rebound this afternoon!
The first game was a rough start for the Express. The Lions tallied 12 runs in the first inning and 10 combined in the second and third. The Express were able to get on base in this game by walking and a few errors on the part of the lions. Unfortunately, though, the Express did not tally a hit in the first game of the afternoon and they lost by a score of 28-0.
Megan Litzenberger, Jen McCumber, and Tori Miller would all get a chance to pitch for the Express in the second game. In the 4th inning, Shay Gonzalez smashed a double down the left-field line for the first hit of the game for the Express. Jen McCumber would then single to right field and send Gonzalez to third. Caitlin Brockner would then send Gonzalez home on a fielder choice where everyone was safe! Serina Sheradin would then get her turn and she would send home McCumber on a groundball to shortstop. these would be the only two runs of the game for the Express as they fell once again to the lions. This time by a score of 21-2.
