Wells Softball Takes On Gallaudet

On Friday night the Wells College softball team came to town for a two same series against the Express. 

Earlier in the season, the Express had traveled to the nation's capital to take on the Bison and fell in both games. Tonight, they were looking for some revenge. 

Megan Litzenberger started the first game for the Express and was able to hold the Bison to just 1 run in the first two innings. In the 3rd the Bison put 3 runs on the board but the Express had an answer for that. First, with the bases loaded Caroline Barr started to move off first base causing the Bison to let home Tori Miller. Then Jen McCumber doubled sending home Caroline Barr and Jessi Rios Rodriguez. Finally, McCumber scored on a passed ball to give the Express a 4-3 lead heading into the 4th inning. Unfortunately, Gallaudet would open the game up and score 9 runs in the top of the 4th which would be enough to give them the victory in the first game, 14-5.

Jennifer McCumber started the second game for Wells College and the Bison were ready for her scoring 13 runs in the top of the first inning. The Express once again, however, would answer back in the next two innings. In the bottom of the first, thanks to 7 walks and 1 hit would score 6 runs. In the bottom of the second, The Express would put up 8 runs on 4 hits and four walks. Notably, both tori Miller and Shay Gonzales would double in the inning. The next time th Express would score would be in the bottom of the 5th on a fielders choice. That would not be enough though and the Bison would win once again by the score of 24-15.
