On Wednesday afternoon the Wells College Softball team traveled to SUNY Morrisville for a 2 game set starting at 3 PM.
The Express had dropped to home games to Penn State Harrisburg earlier in the week and were hoping for a different outcome this afternoon!
In the first game, the Express were held scoreless until in the third inning, Tori Miller singled, Jessi Rios Rodriguez reached on catchers interference, Shay Gonzalez singled, then Jen McCumber singled to push across the first run of the game for Wells College. SUNY Morrisville would get to the Express pitching in this one though winning by a score of 14-1.
In the second game, the Express got on the board in the first inning. Tori Miller would lead off the game with a double, Jessi Rios Rodriguez walked, and the Serina Sheradin doubled sending home Tori Miller and giving the Express a 1-0 lead! The Mustangs would answer back with 4 first-inning runs of their own. In the third inning, Shay Gonzalez drove in a run and then later in the inning scored on a wild pitch. Megan Litzenberger, Tori Miller, and Jessi Rios Rodriguez all drove in runs in the 5th inning! But it was too little too late for the Express as they fell by a score of 17-6 to the Mustangs.
