Men's Volleyball Takes Two Games From The Gators

The Wells College men's volleyball team hosted the Russell Sage Gators for back-to-back games this Saturday afternoon. The Express would take both games capturing their first two wins of the season.

Earlier in the season the Express had dropped a close contest at Russell Sage and were looking for some revenge this afternoon. That revenge came in the first game when Wells College took it to the Gators in three straight sets. On offense, Wells was led by Confidence Burrows with ten kills, Connor Garvey with nine kills, and newcomer Billy McCrae with eight. Mason Moon served up twenty-three assists to help the Express put away the Gators, 3-0.

The second game was much closer. After winning three straight sets, the Express came out and took the first set in the second match making it four sets in a row. The Gators were then able to battle back in the second set having a 1-point lead for most of the set. The lead grew to 23-19 in favor of the Gators when the Express called a time-out. Billy McCrae came out and helped Wells go on a run with his serves tying the game up at 23. A late service error and some big-time serves from the Gators helped them take this set 30-28. the third set was just as close with Billy McCrae and Confidence Burrowes trying to push the Express over the top late, but the Gators grabbed the third set, 25-23. The fourth set was all Wells. Harrison Keena got things started with his serves helping the Express jump out of 6-0 lead they would not look back from forcing a fifth set against the Gators. In the final set, the Express were carried by their returners Connor Garvey and Confidence Burrowes in a 15-9 victory.

Men's volleyball will be back on the court Thursday at Medaille College.
