'On This Day' Roser Surpasses 1,500-Point Mark with 71st Career Double-Double

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Nov. 16, seven years ago in 2013.

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Wells College women's basketball team led from start to finish as the Express secured a 55-45 non-conference victory over the Raptors of Bard College Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16, 2013.

The Express, who led by 21 points near the midpoint of the second half, were sparked by senior Ashley Roser, who recorded her 71st career double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

She has now recorded 1,521 points across her four-year career at Wells. For her efforts this weekend, she also earned placement on the All-Tournament Team at Brockport.

Kaitlynne Knapp was second on the team, scoring eight points, while Kristen Ryan led the way with eight assists, tying a single-game program record.

Wells opened up a 10-point lead with only 3:32 expired in the contest as Cassie Smythe bombed a 3-point basket to grant the Express a 14-4 lead. Smythe's big shot was followed by a jumper and a layup by Knapp to grant Wells a 20-5 lead with 14:24 remaining in the first half.

In the first half alone, Wells scored 16 of their team's 32 points off of Bard turnovers. Additionally, the Express dominated the paint to the tune of 12 points opposing the Raptors' eight below the basket.

A Ryan layup with 14:43 remaining in the second half lifted Wells to their largest lead, a 21-point spread. Wells and Bard traded points in the second half but the Express still possessed a 21-point lead with 6:11 left in the second half. The Raptors finished the game strong, however, trimming a large deficit to only 10 at the game's end. In the final 4:46, Wells was outscored by an 11-0 margin.

Bard was led by Tytravia Riley's 23 points and 17 rebounds. Riley finished second in NCAA Division III rebounding-per-game behind Roser in 2012-13.
