Express Drops to Soaring Eagles in First Road Contest

The Wells College women's basketball team traveled to Elmira for its first road contest of the season. After going head on with the Soaring Eagles in the first quarter, Elmira got the better of the Express the rest of the way before ouscoring Wells by 35 with a 60-25 final.

Lydia Thomas (Colton, N.Y.) led Wells in three categories including points, steals and assists. The freshman was the team's only double-digit scorer with 10 points and finished the afternoon with three steals and assists. Thomas went 2-for-4 from beyond the arc to account for a half-dozen of her points.

Morgan Adams (Waverly, N.Y.) was just one-point shy of recording her second-consecutive double double after finishing with nine points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

Sonia Rivera (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added five points, while Marissa Laird (Romulus, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring with a free throw.

The Express prepare for a pair of home games next weekend against Cazenovia beginning with a 6 p.m. start on Friday, March 12 followed by a 2 p.m. start on March 13.
