Men's Volleyball travels to SUNY Poly
On Wednesday night the Wells Express men's volleyball team traveled to SUNY Poly for an evening match-up.
This was the first meeting of these two teams this year after their original contest was postponed from February 2nd until tonight.
The first set saw SUNY Poly open up a 13-5 lead over the Express. That was quickly followed by a kill from Riley Mahoney to give the Express a quick spark. Poly was then able to open a slightly larger lead at 22-13 when Confidence Burrows finished the set with 3 kills but unfortunately, the Express fell, 25-16.
In the second set, the Express opened up a 9-2 lead thanks to some early serves from Riley Mahoney and Cooper Colesante. SUNY Poly battled back though and closed the gap at 20-20. In the end, a few service errors on the side of the Express leveraged SUNY Poly to a second set victory, 25-23.
In the third set, it was tight most of the way. Until late, neither team was able to gain a lead of more than 1 or 2. Some late serves from Connor Garvey and Riley Mahoney were not enough to push the Express over the top and Wells fell in 3 straight sets. 25-19.
Express Stat Leaders:
Connor Garvey: 11 kills
Cooper Colesante: 16 assists
The Express will be back in action at home on Friday against SUNY Potsdam!
