Men's Volleyball Opens Season On The Road

The Wells Express men's volleyball team kicked off their season this weekend as they traveled to SUNY Poly to take on 4 different squads.

Baruch, Elmira, St John Fisher, and Lasell would all face off against the express on Friday and Saturday. 

First up was the Elmira College Eagles. The Express battled in the first set losing only 25-20. However in the second in the third set, the Eagles took command and defeated the Express 25-16 and 25-14.

Later that day the Express took on Baruch. They proved to be a difficult opponent for the Express as they fell in three straight sets 25-18, 25-18, 25-14. 

On Saturday the Express was back in action, starting with St John Fisher.

Fisher took the first set by a score of 25-21, and also the second set 25-18. In the third set, the Express battled as the set went back and forth till the very end but Fisher ended up on top 25-23.

In the last match of the weekend, the Express took on Lasell. the first two sets were competitive as both teams had led at one point but Lasell was able to win both sets 25-20 and 25-22. In the third set, the Express was a bit deflated from a weekend of games and fell 25-8.

Riley Mahoney: 2.92 kills per set (35 total)

Cooper Colesante: 4.83 assists per set

Men's volleyball will be back in action this Saturday the 29th at Sage College.
