Men's volleyball wraps up season with tri-match

On Saturday the Wells College men's volleyball team traveled to Elmira College for their final matches of the season.

Elmira College was hosting a tri-match where the Express would take on Bard College and Juanita College. 

Up for the Express was Bard.

The Express dropped the first set to Bard but neither team really gained a large advantage. This clearly gave the Express a boost as they came out in the second set, built a lead on Bard, and never looked back. A kill from Cooper Colesante finished off Bard in the second set. In the third, the Express once again gained control and would never release it. Riley Mahoney would come up with a few big-time kills as the Express beat Bard and back-to-back sets by the same score, 25-20. Bard however would not go quietly and forced the Express into a 5th set after battling back to win the fourth set by a score of 25-21. The 5h set was a back-and-forth affair and the Express found themselves locked in at a 5-5 score. After that, however, kills from Colesante, Mahoney, and Garvey helped seel the overall victory for the Express as they took down Bard 15-13 and 3-2 overall!

Now for Juanita College.

Juanita College came out scorching hot taking it to the Express right away. Wells College battled early in the first set with Kills from Nugent and Mahoney but Juanita would eventually topple the Express 25-11 in the first set. In the second set, the Express dug themselves a 9-2 hole that they could not recover from. After a kill from Christian Hahn they shrank the lead down to 11-5 but this is as close as the Express would get in this set as they fell once again by a score of 25-13. The third set looked a lot like the second for the Express, finding themselves down once again 9-2. at this point, fatigue began to set in playing back-to-back games and the Express would ultimately fall to Junaita in 3 straight sets, 25-13.

Riley Mahoney: 19 kills
