Women’s Tennis Shutout By Blue Devils, 9-0

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's tennis team fell to the Blue Devils of Fredonia State University by a 9-0 score Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Express fall to 0-2 overall on the season while the Blue Devils improve to 2-0 on the year.

Senior Caitlyn Copfer (Clinton, N.Y.), at No. 2 singles, battled Sara DiFulvio to three sets after recording a first set 7-4 tiebreaking victory. Ultimately, Copfer fell to DiFulvio 10-8 in the third stanza in the closest Express match of the afternoon. The tandem of Kelly Pietruch (Whitesboro, N.Y.) and Emma Martin (Concord, N.H.) also had the closest doubles match of the afternoon, falling 8-3 to the squad of Miller Barmasse and Molly Zanetti at No. 2 doubles.

The Express return to action Thursday, Sept. 13 as they host the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College in a 4:00 p.m. math on the Wells College tennis courts.
