Express Women's Hoops Hosts Houghton College

On Friday night the Express women's basketball team closed out their semester by hosting Houghton College for a 6 pm game.

The Express are still winless on the season with an 0-7 record while the Highlanders came into tonight's game with a 4-3 record.

The first quarter saw the Highlanders take a commanding lead over the Express thanks to their smothering defense. The Express fell behind by a score of 24-2. In the second quarter, the Express's offense was able to create some nice opportunities and capitalize, scoring 10 total points but still trailing heading into halftime by a score of 39-12.

The start of the second half brought similar offensive struggles for the Express. Although they have cut down on the turnovers, they have not yet been able to capitalize on all their scoring opportunities. One bright spot for the Express tonight was first-year forward Caroline Barr who lead the Express with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Express Leading Scorers

Caroline Barr - 12 points

Jennifer McCumber - 4 points

Morgan Adams - 4 points

This game sends the Express into the break with a record of 0-8 still looking to secure their first win of the season. "Every day, every practice, we just work to get better. We can't fix everything at once but step by step we see corrections being made and those little improvements will hopefully continue to add up as the year goes on." Head Coach Tara Ruckh.
