Wells Express Athletes of The Week 1/19

Congratulations to this week's Athletes of the Week Lydia Thomas and Ransel Rodriguez!

Lydia was selected this week based on her performance last weekend against Penn State Berks in the first win of the season for the Women's Basketball team. She recorded 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists. She shot 7-13 from the floor and 4-6 from 3 point land. Lydia was nominated by her head coach Tara Ruckh. This is Lydia's sophomore year here at Wells and she is from Colton, NY. This is Lydia's first time winning Athlete of The Week!

Ransel was selected this week based on his performances last week and his selected by the United East COnference as Player of the week!  The sophomore totaled 63 points across the three contests, spilling in a career-high 27 in the week's opener against Penn College. In that same game, Rodriguez went a perfect 11 for 11 from the charity stripe. The guard from Manhattan, N.Y. was knocking down everything as he shot 66% percent from the field (21-for-32) and 60% from beyond the arc (6-for-10). Rodriguez also helped facilitate the offense as he totaled 21 dimes on the week. On defense, he picked up 14 steals and also reeled in 14 boards. Ransel was nominated by his head coach Joe Wojtylko. He comes to Wells College from Manhattan, NY. This is Ransel's second time winning Athlete of The Week!
