Wells College Athletics, ESPN Ithaca Announce Partnership

WELLS COLLEGE SPORTS BEAT - FEBRUARY 5, 2016

LANSING, N.Y. – Wells College Athletics and ESPN Ithaca have announced an on-air radio partnership for the remainder of the 2015-16 athletics calendar, Director of Athletics Mike Lindberg announced on Monday. As a key part of that partnership, ESPN Ithaca will air the “Wells College Sports Beat”, a segment dedicated entirely to the 16 NCAA Division III varsity sports offerings at the institution.

The segments, which will first broadcast on Friday, Feb. 5, will air on Between The Lines, a local sports radio show hosted by Jeremy Menard that features and discusses local athletics happenings in the Finger Lakes region. Between The Lines regularly covers the athletic events for Cornell University, Ithaca College, SUNY Cortland, Tompkins Cortland Community College and local high schools.

Additionally, the station will air separate segments spread out across the upcoming semester that will feature interviews with a head coach or a student-athlete. Reruns of the “Wells College Sports Beat” will also air at other times throughout the week. ESPN Ithaca broadcasts over-the-air on 1160 AM and 107.1 FM in addition to online at http://www.espnithaca.com.

“We are very pleased to renew our affiliation with ESPN Ithaca, who year-in and year-out provides our local community with outstanding support of athletics in the Cayuga, Tompkins, and Cortland County region,” remarked Lindberg. “Wells College is thrilled to be included in ESPN Ithaca’s expansive coverage of local, regional, and national sports.”

"We are very pleased to provide a more enhanced coverage of athletics for Wells College,” said Menard, who serves as ESPN Ithaca’s Operations Manager. “It's particularly rewarding when we get to report on local high school athletes who stay in our backyard and compete at the collegiate level.”

Podcasts of the interview segments will be available via the ESPN Ithaca website (http://www.espnithaca.com) and on the Wells College Athletics website (http://www.wells-express.com).
