Men's Basketball Loses in Semi Finals Battle

Men's Basketball Loses in Semi Finals Battle

On Friday night the Express men's basketball team played in the first game of the United East conference tournament!

They traveled to the host, Lancaster Bible College. LBC had defeated the Express twice already this year and they express looked to play spoiler to a potentially successful Lancaster season.

The first half was a half of runs. Both teams had a lead at one point but were not able to hold it for long. The Express found themselves up 18-17 but then gave up a 9-0 run to fall behind 26-18. However, the Express then went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 2 at 26-24. Ivan Oduro- Dompreh was the leading scorer for the Express in the first half with 10 points. The United East player of the year for the Chargers, Jordan Shewbridge, did not record a single field goal in the first half but did sink 5 free throws. Credit to Ty McBride and Jarek Feliz who were able to help muffle the production of Jordan Shewbridge in the first half. At halftime, the score was all knotted up at 43.

The second half brought out a few fireworks. The Chargers started out the half on an 8-0 run going up by a score of 51-43 over the Express. This gritty Express team though hung around and fought to cut the lead to 5 (60-55) with 10 minutes left in the half. Unfortunately, this is where the game turned. Ransel Rodriguez was hit with 2 technical fouls in less than 1 minute of play and was ejected from the game after only 30 minutes of play and 7 points. Later in the half, Jarek Feliz fouled out for the Express, and just like that the two leading scorers for the Express all season were out of the game with the Express down 13 points with 8 minutes left. This lead proved to be insurmountable as the Lancaster Bible Chargers defeated the Express by a score of 94-80.

Express Stat Leaders

Ivan Oduro-Dompreh: 16pts, 5rbs

Jalen Feliz: 12pts, 5rbs, 10-10FT

Ty McBride: 10pts, 2stls

The Express finish their season with a record of 17-9 and 11-5 in the United East Conference. This was quite the improvement over the last full season for the Express ('19-'20) in which they finished with an overall record of 5-20.

Congratulations on a great season!
