Men's Volleyball Host Tri-match with AMCC Opponent Geneva and SUNY Potsdam

Aurora, NY-

Wells College men's volleyball hosted a tri-match Saturday with AMCC opponent Geneva College and SUNY Potsdam, losing both matches 0-3.

Wells College vs Geneva College (15-25, 22-25, 16-25)

This was the first conference game for the Express, falling to to 0-1 in the AMCC.  Geneva got off to a hot start in game one after the Express went point for point for the first 5 points, then couldn't keep up with the attack from the Golden Tornados.  Game two had the Express battling back after getting down early 8-14, but then going on a 12-6 run to tie the game 20-20.  Leading the way on that run was sophomore Isayah Jonhson, who had 4 kills to keep the pace high for the Express. The points continued to go back and forth until a couple of late kills for Geneva put them on top.  In the third game, Wells got an early lead to start, but Geneva battled back to tie the game 11-11.  From there, the Golden Tornados took the lead and Wells couldn't mount a comeback.

Wells College vs SUNY Potsdam (16-25, 15-25, 17-25)

The second match for the Express had them up against SUNY Potsdam, who had beaten Geneva College in the prior match 3-1.  The Bears contiuned their hot play from the privious match to start game one versus the Express, getting up quickly on a 7-2 run.  The Express made a run, but it wasn't enough to catch the Bears.  Game two and three were replicas of the first with the Bears starting fast and getting up early.  Wells was not able to keep up, despite some big hits by seniors Connor Garvey and Billy McCrae.

The Express take to the court again on Wednesday, February 28th againts Hilbert at Schwartz Gymnasium at 7:00pm.
