LATROBE, PA - The Express traveled down to Latrobe to take on Bethany College and fellow AMCC rep St. Vincent in a tri-match on Thursday. Their trip would see them split the matches, losing the first match 3-0 to St. Vincent before bouncing back to defeat Bethany College 3-0. There was also some history made for the Express during their voyage to PA.
In game 2 vs Bethany College, Wells standout Mason Moon surpassed the 1,000 assist threshold while guiding the Express to the aforementioned 3-0 victory over the Bison.
Moon, only a sophomore, reached the illustrious mark in a little over 40 matches as part of the Express. He currently sits at 4th all-time in Wells history for assists, and has a great shot at moving up in the future.
Moon set up 22 kills in the game 2 win, 9 of which were nailed down by senior spiker Billy McCrae.
McCrae was efficient in the game 2 victory, soaring for 9 kills on 12 total attacks, good for a .667 attacking percentage. He also frustrated many of the Bison attackers, procuring 2 solo blocks and 1 block assist.
McCraw wasn't the only Express player who found success at the net against Bethany, as fellow Wells hitters Isayah Johnson and Connor Garvey each slammed down 7 kills.
Garvey had the hot hand from the service line as well, tallying 5 service aces in the 3-set match. He also got it done on defense, digging up 9 Bison attacks.
Sophomore Harrsion Keena was also a bastion for the Express, recording 13 digs in a spectacular defensive showing.
The Express return home on Saturday as they welcome fellow AMCC challenger Hiram to Schwartz Athletics Center. That game begins at 1:00 PM and starts a string of 7-straight AMCC matchups for the Express to finish the regular season.
