The Wells College men's volleyball team started a weekend of North Eastern Athletic Conference matches with a pair of wins on Saturday at the conference event hosted by Keuka College. Wells opened the day with a 3-0 win over Hilbert College and followed that with a 3-1 victory against Medaille College.
Wells extended its winning streak to four matches, and improved its conference record to 5-2. The Express is 9-9 overall on the year. Sunday, Wells takes on D'Youville College at noon.
WELLS 3, HILBERT 0
Set scores were 25-20, 25-15, 25-23. The straight-sets victory was the third consecutive three-set win for the Express. Ryan Turner led a balanced Wells attack with seven kills and he had just one error. Four Express players had five or more kills. Josh Undari had 16 assists and Scott Litvin had 13 assists.
Wells served seven aces, including two each from Undari and Turner. Kevin Batmunkh had 13 digs and Turner had one solo block and two assisted blocks.
WELLS 3, MEDAILLE 1
Wells won by scores of 25-18, 25-13, 28-30, 25-23. After cruising through the opening two sets, Medaille came back to win an extended third set 30-28, and Wells closed out the match with a narrow 25-23 victory in the fourth.
Caden O'Loughlin led the Express with a career-high 23 kills and he hit .356 in the match. Brannon Perdicho added 12 kills. Litvin had 25 assists and Undari added 22. Undari also served three aces. The Express had a .428 hitting percentage in the second set.
Undari had 10 digs and Perdicho had nine. Jonathan Haines had assists on five of the nine blocks for Wells in the match. Turner had a solo block and three block assists.
