Historic Win As Men's Volleyball Defeats Fourth-Ranked Vassar

The Wells College men's volleyball team started its season with a pair of matches against nationally-ranked opponents on Friday, Jan. 19 at the SUNY Poly Invitational. In the opening match of the day, Wells defeated No. 4 Vassar College in four sets. It was the first-ever win against a nationally-ranked opponent in Wells men's volleyball history. In the second match of the day, 10th-ranked Wentworth took a close four-set match against the Express.

The invitational continues Saturday as Wells faces Johnson & Wales at 1 p.m. and Elms at 3 p.m.

Wells 3, #4 Vassar 1

The milestone victory for Wells started with a first-set win in extra points and closed out with a fourth-set victory in extra points. Set scores were 27-25, 22-25, 25-21, 26-24.

Brannon Perdicho led Wells with 14 kills and Josh Undari had eight kills. Scott Litvin and Mike Hartman had 10 digs each, and Litvin had 27 assists. Jonathan Haines had two solo blocks and one block assist.

#10 Wentworth 3, Wells 1

The Leopards won three close sets to defeat Wells. Set scores were 25-21. 20-25, 25-22, 25-23.

Robert Patzer and Brannon Perdicho had 13 kills each, and Caden O'Loughlin had 11 kills. Josh Undari had 28 assists and Scott Litvin had 12 assits. O'Loughlin led Wells with seven digs and Undari, Mike Hartman, and Perdicho had six digs each. O'Loughlin served three aces.
