Men's Volleyball Picked Fifth in NEAC Preseason Poll

The Wells College men's volleyball team was picked fifth among nine teams in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Preseason Poll. Wells earned 32 points in the poll, 10 points behind Keuka College and four points ahead of D'Youville College.

Wells enters the season under the direction of first-year head coach Mark Lucas, who was promoted from his role as assistant coach to lead the women's and men's volleyball teams in the 2016-17 academic year. Assistant coach Jim Nichols will complete the coaching staff.

The Express returns five players and four starters to the 2017 roster. Among the returning players is junior Brannon Perdicho, who earned All-NEAC Second Team honors in 2016. Wells finished 10-20 overall and 6-10 in NEAC matches last season.

The Express began practices for the 2017 campaign this week and will start its competitive season Jan. 20 and 21 at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Tournament. Wells has matches against Elms, Stevenson, Vassar, and Cairn at the SUNY Poly event. The opening weekend of NEAC matches for Wells takes place Feb. 3 and 4 at SUNY Poly.

The preseason poll rankings were conducted by the NEAC men's volleyball coaches, with each coach ranking out all teams but their own using a staggered points system.
