England, Lucas Added To Wells Volleyball Coaching Staff

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College Department of Athletics has announced the additions of Brooke England and Mark Lucas as Assistant Coaches for the men's and women's volleyball team in 2014. England will assist Head Coach Richard Gary with the men's and women's volleyball programs at Wells while Lucas will work strictly with the men's team as they enter their third season as a varsity program.

Most recently, England served as the Assistant Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach at North Eastern Athletic Conference-rival Keuka College. En route to the 2013 NEAC Championship with the Storm in only their first year of existence, England assisted the Storm coaching staff with the recruitment of student-athletes while also coaching all of the players during practices and games.

In addition to her duties at Wells, England serves as the Head Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach at Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester, N.Y. and also serves as a coach with the Xtreme Volleyball Club in Bloomfield, N.Y. England also works extensively with the YMCA of Greater Rochester at its Monroe Avenue Branch, organizing games in a camp setting to fit all campers.

England has also assisted the Keuka Lake Volleyball Club, the Victor Volleyball Club and the Crossroads Volleyball Club. A 2010 graduate of Limestone College with a degree in Sport Management, England worked within the Sports Information Office as an undergraduate. She also participated in two years of NCAA Division II women's volleyball and ranks fourth all-time in Limestone history with 1,020 digs across 245 matches.

Lucas joins the Express after serving as the Head Coach of the men's volleyball program at Kyoto University in Kyoto, Japan. Across a nine-year career as bench boss in Japan, Lucas compiled 73 head coaching victories and posted the best fall (7-1) and spring (7-0) seasons in program history in 2006. He has also played for the Matsugasaki Club Team in Kyoto dating back to April of 2008, winning the Sakyo-ku League Championship twice.

Outside of volleyball, Lucas currently serves as the Managing Editor of the Paleontological Research Institution in Ithaca, N.Y. while also serving as the Copy Editor for the Ecological Society of America in Ithaca. He has also served as a full-time English Lecturer at Kansai University, Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and the Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts. Lucas possesses two bachelor's degrees, the first in Biomedical Computing from the Rochester Institute of Technology and the second from SUNY Brockport in Theatre (Acting/Dancing). Lucas also earned his master's degree from SUNY Brockport in Secondary Science (Physics).
