Hot Shooting For Wells Leads To Men's Basketball Win

The Wells College men's basketball team got a career-best performace from Zach D'Arpino and came away with an 87-79 victory at Penn State Berks on Sunday, Jan. 13. Wells earned its second North Eastern Athletic Conference victory of the season.

The Express shot 60 percent from behind the 3-point line with 15 makes in 25 attempts. This included a 9-for-12 performance from behind the arc from Zach D'Arpino and a career-high 27 points. His nine successful 3-point baskets tied a school record established six years ago by E.J. Taylor, who made nine at Keuka on Jan. 16, 2013.

Penn State Berks took a one-point lead in the opening minute of the second half before Wells responded with a 23-9 run. That resulted in Wells' largest lead of the game at 13 points and the Express held the lead the rest of the way. In the decisive run, D'Arpino and A.J. Nesci each made two 3-pointers.

Rich Ross had 21 points, A.J. Nesci had 15, and Jalen Tribble scored 12. Tribble led Wells with 12 rebounds. Nesci had nine assists and Tribble had five assists.

Wells is back in action Wednesday, Jan. 16 at SUNY Poly at 7 p.m.
