Men's Basketball Team Can't Hold On After Second Half Rally

The Wells College men's basketball team never led during the first half of its non-conference matchup at D'Youville College in Buffalo on Friday, Nov. 15.

The Express trailed by as much as 14 during the first half before closing that gap to just four points at the break at 41-37.

Early in the second half and still trailing by four at 52-48, Zach D'Arpino sank a jumper and a pair of free throws to bring Wells even at 52 apiece. Then 90 seconds later, D'Arpino gave the Express its first lead of the game at 56-55.

Wells chipped away and began building its lead as the second half winded down. First, an Anthony Nesci basket increased the Express lead to three at 58-55. Then, Keian Montero put Wells up by four at 69-65. Finally, D'Arpino gave the Express its biggest lead of the night at five with 6:30 left in the contest.

The Spartans crawled back and the game was up for grabs with each team at 74 in the final 4:30 of the game. D'Youville had the upper hand in the end with 18 of the game's last 27 points to beat Wells by a 92-83 final.

The Express shot 51 percent from the floor in the second and finished at nearly 44 percent for the game.

Jalen Tribble led the team in both points and rebounds with 21 and eight, respectively. Three other Wells players finished with double-digit scoring that included D'Arpino with 15, Izaiah McPherson with 14 and Ty McBride with 11. McBride had a team-high four assists.

Jalen Feliz led the team from the bench with eight points, seven rebounds and a pair of blocks in 17 minutes of playing time.
