Hot-Shooting Wells Men's Basketball Defeats Elms

The Wells College men's basketball team returned home to the Schwartz Athletic Center after a four-game road trip and earned an 84-63 win over Elms College on Saturday, Jan. 6. The Express made 15 3-pointers in the game to key the victory.

Macho DeJesus led Wells with 26 points. He made 6-of-12 from behind the arc. Three other players scored in double figures for the Express. Rich Ross scored 19 points and Zach D'Arpino and Tyree Fisher each scored 12 points.

Wells got off to a hot start and led 10-1 in the opening minutes. The Express never trailed in the game. Wells led 39-27 at halftime.

In the opening minutes of the second half, DeJesus got hot from behind the arc and made four 3-pointers in the first five minutes of the half. Wells built its lead to 25 points in the second half, its largest lead of the game.

Ross and Anthony Nesci each had seven assists, and Ross led Wells with 11 rebounds.

The 15 made 3-pointers as a team was a season-best for the Express, one better than 14 made triples in a win over Washington & Jefferson in late December. It is tied for the second-best single-game mark in school history.

Wells improved to 3-9 on the season and Elms is 0-9. The Express returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 10 with a 1 p.m. NEAC home game against Cazenovia College.
