First-Place Mustangs Race Past Wells Men's Basketball

The Wells College men's basketball team was outscored by 17 points in the second half of an 89-64 loss at Morrisville State on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The first-place Mustangs improved to 11-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Wells stayed close in the first half. The Express trailed 19-13 before going on an 11-0 run that included a layup from Jalen Tribble and three 3-pointers from Zach D'Arpino. The five-point lead for the Express was the largest Wells margin of the game. Morrisville State rallied back to lead 43-35 at halftime.

Wells was held to 29 points in the second half. The Express shot 42.3 percent from the field in the game and Wells made 11-of-16 free-throw attempts. Morrisville State had a 49-20 rebounding advantage including 21 offensive rebounds that led to 26 second-chance points.

Dylan Frost had 18 points and Zach D'Arpino scored 19 points. D'Arpino made 6-of-9 from behind the 3-point arc. Ty McBride had nine points, three steals, and five assists.

Tuesday's game was the third of a three-game road trip for Wells. The Express will play home games Saturday, Feb. 9 against Lancaster Bible at 3 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 10 against Gallaudet at 2 p.m.
