Men’s Basketball Team Displays Impressive Second-Half Rally

The Wells College men's basketball team rallied in the second half, but lost the lead in the final 90 seconds as Cobleskill scored six of the game's final eight points to beat the Express by a 56-52 score on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

The Express fell behind early but crawled back to tie the contest at 13-13 five minutes into the game on the first of two Jalen Tribble threes. That was the high point in the first half as the Express never had the lead and went into the break trailing by seven at 30-23.

The second half was much different as Wells dominated. A Dylan Frost layup gave the Express its first lead of the contest at 34-33 five minutes into the second half. A Frost jumper gave Wells its biggest lead at five points with a 42-37 advantage midway through the second. The Fighting Tigers clawed back and drew even at 50-50 with 90 seconds to go.

The Express had its longest lead in the second without a victory after holding the edge in play in the second for about 14 minutes.

Tribble was the team's only double-digit scorer with 21 that included the team's only pair of threes. Jalen Feliz registered a team-high seven boards with four coming offensively, while defensively Quentin Battle finished with five defensive rebounds. Ty McBride had a team-high three assists and three steals.

The men's basketball team returns home for a 12 p.m. contest against visiting Keuka on Feb. 8.
